Ayla is where you practice interviews out loud, on camera. That only feels safe if you trust what happens to it. So the short version: your recordings stay on your device, your practice history lives in your own iCloud, we don't sell your data, and we collect as little as we can.

This policy covers the Ayla website at tryayla.app and the Ayla app for iPhone and iPad.

1. What the website collects

The website has no analytics, no cookies and no forms. Vercel, which hosts it, processes standard request information such as your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for, so it can deliver and protect the site.

If you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is saved in your own browser. Clearing your browser data removes it.

2. How the app handles your practice

Ayla is built so the most personal parts of your practice never reach us.

  • Camera and microphone. Ayla uses your camera while you practice to follow your eye contact, head position and posture, and your microphone to hear your answers. This happens on your device. We never receive images, video, audio or face data.
  • Speech recognition. Your answers are turned into text on your device so Ayla can check your pace and filler words.
  • Answer recordings. Recordings are never synced to iCloud and never sent to us. They stay on your device only while you review your session, then they're deleted, unless you choose to save or share one. A recording you save or share goes only where you send it.
  • Your practice history. Your first name, onboarding answers, settings, interviews, scores, answer details, saved questions, coach conversations and habit progress (but never your recordings) are stored in your private iCloud and sync between your devices through your own Apple Account. We can't read them.
  • Coach Ayla. Coach Ayla runs on Apple Intelligence on your device. Your conversations with it are not sent to us.
  • Anonymous analytics. The app sends us anonymous usage events, such as that onboarding finished, an interview started or a report was opened. They use a random install ID that isn't linked to your iCloud data. They never include anything you typed or said: no names, no answers, no transcripts, no audio or video.
  • No advertising tracking. Ayla doesn't use advertising identifiers and doesn't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
  • Crash reports. If the app crashes, we receive a technical report so we can fix it. It describes the failure, not your practice.

3. Subscriptions and payment

Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your card number, billing address or Apple Account password. We use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active, using an anonymous ID and your App Store purchase records.

4. Who we share data with

We don't sell your personal information and we don't share it for advertising. We use a small number of service providers, each handling only what their job needs:

  • Apple: App Store distribution and payments, iCloud sync and Apple Intelligence.
  • Google Firebase: anonymous app analytics and crash reporting.
  • RevenueCat: subscription status.
  • Vercel: hosting this website.
  • Google (Gmail): receiving the emails you send us.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect against fraud or abuse.

5. How long we keep it

Answer recordings are deleted after your session unless you save or share them. Your practice history stays in your iCloud until you delete it; you can delete a single interview in the app, or remove Ayla's data from your iCloud settings. Analytics and crash reports are kept on our providers' standard schedules. Support emails are kept as long as we need them to help you.

6. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct anything inaccurate.
  • Delete your data.
  • Give you a copy of it.
  • Stop using it for a particular purpose.

Email helloaylaapp@gmail.com and we'll take care of it. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your data protection regulator.

7. Children

Ayla isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we'll delete it.

8. International transfers

Our service providers operate in the United States and elsewhere, so your information may be processed outside your country. Where required, those transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

9. Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we'll let you know in the app before they take effect.

10. Contact

Ayla is operated by MDApps, LLC. For any privacy question, email helloaylaapp@gmail.com.
