# Ayla

> Ayla is a mock interview practice app for iPhone and iPad. You practice face to face with an animated interviewer who asks real interview questions. Ayla coaches you live while you answer, then scores how you came across and shows you exactly what to work on next.

Ayla is made for women getting ready for an interview: an internship, a first job, a part-time or retail role, a step up or a career change.

## Practice interviews

- Interview types: behavioral, situational, internship, retail and service, and phone screen.
- Nearly 70 built-in questions across those types, from warm-ups to harder questions, plus any questions you write yourself.
- Eight animated practice interviewers, each in five settings: an office, a home office, a coffee shop, a boutique and a career center.
- Five settings to interview in: an office, a home office, a coffee shop, a boutique and a campus career center.
- Each interview has up to five questions, with two minutes for each answer. Questions and the interviewer's reactions appear as captions.

## Coaching while you answer

Ayla watches and listens as you speak, and nudges you in the moment so you fix habits while you're still talking, not afterwards.

- Eye contact: if your eyes drift away from the interviewer, the top edge of the screen glows and a short prompt brings you back.
- Posture and head position: prompts to keep your chin up, your head level and your posture upright.
- Pace: if you speed up, a soft pulse around the screen edge and a short prompt remind you to slow down.
- Filler words: if you reach for "um", "uh" or "like", Ayla prompts you to pause instead.
- Only one prompt shows at a time, the most important first, and prompts are spaced out so they help without overwhelming you.
- A countdown shows how much of your two minutes is left.
- Before each interview, choose your level of coaching: Off (like a real interview), Eye contact only, or All prompts.

## After each answer

- A score, plus a separate read on each of four skills: eye contact, pace, filler words and presence. Each shows as on target, close or off target.
- Playback with timed captions that marks the moments you looked away, sped up or used a filler word.
- STAR check for story questions ("Tell me about a time…"): Ayla labels your answer's Situation, Task, Action and Result, shows whether each part was covered, partly covered or missing, notes whether you said "I" or "we" more, and gives you one tip to tell the story better. The STAR check is guidance, doesn't change your score, and needs Apple Intelligence.
- Coach Ayla: talk through a session or a single answer and plan what to practice next.

## Progress and habits

- Answer one question to find your starting score, then track your scores and past interviews over time.
- Practice reminders, streaks with a weekly streak freeze, and a weekly recap.

## Privacy

- Answer recordings are never synced or sent anywhere. They stay on your device during your session and are deleted afterwards, unless you choose to save or share them.
- Your sessions sync with your private iCloud.

## Requirements

- iOS 27.
- An iPhone or iPad with an A12 chip or later and a TrueDepth (Face ID) camera.
- Coach Ayla and the STAR check use Apple Intelligence and appear only on devices that support it and have it turned on. Interviews, scores and playback work without it.
